1000 Series: Pure Aluminum Coils

The 1000 series aluminum coils, often referred to as pure aluminum coils, are notable for their high aluminum content, typically exceeding 99.00% purity. Due to the absence of additional alloying elements, the production process for these coils is straightforward, resulting in a lower cost compared to other series. The most commonly circulated grades in this series are 1050 and 1060. The last two digits of these designations indicate the aluminum content, with 1050 requiring at least 99.5% aluminum and 1060 necessitating a minimum of 99.6%. This series is prevalent in various industrial applications due to its affordability and simplicity.

2000 Series: Copper-Rich Aluminum Coils

The 2000 series, which includes alloys such as 2A16 and 2A06, is characterized by its higher hardness and significant copper content, typically ranging from 3% to 5%. This series is primarily used in the aerospace sector, but it is less common in conventional industries. The production of 2000 series aluminum plates in China is limited compared to foreign manufacturers, particularly those from Korea and Germany. As China's aerospace industry advances, it is expected that domestic production technology for this series will improve.

3000 Series: Manganese-Based Aluminum Coils

Represented by the designation A21, the 3000 series aluminum coils are known for their rust-resistant properties. The primary alloying element in this series is manganese, with a concentration between 1.0% and 1.5%. This series is often utilized in environments prone to moisture, such as air conditioners and refrigerators, and is priced higher than the 1000 series. Its excellent anti-corrosive characteristics make it a popular choice in various applications.

4000 Series: Silicon-Rich Aluminum Coils

The 4000 series, including the 4A014000 designation, is characterized by a higher silicon content, typically between 4.5% and 6.0%. This series is commonly used in construction materials, mechanical components, and welding applications. Its low melting point and good corrosion resistance make it suitable for various industrial processes, including forging and fabrication.

5000 Series: Aluminum-Magnesium Alloys

The 5000 series encompasses alloys such as 5052, 5005, 5083, and 5A05, with magnesium as the primary alloying element, constituting around 3% to 5%. Known for their lightweight and high tensile strength, these aluminum coils are commonly referred to as aluminum-magnesium alloys. They are widely used in aviation, particularly in aircraft fuel tanks, as well as in other industries. The processing methods for this series involve continuous casting and rolling, making it one of the more established series in China.

6000 Series: Magnesium and Silicon Alloys

The 6000 series, represented by the 6061 alloy, contains both magnesium and silicon. This combination allows it to leverage the benefits of both the 4000 and 5000 series. The 6061 alloy is known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good workability, making it suitable for a variety of applications, including aircraft components and marine hardware. Its favorable characteristics include ease of coating and excellent interface properties.

7000 Series: Zinc-Rich Aluminum Alloys

The 7000 series, particularly the 7075 alloy, is recognized for its high zinc content and is classified as a heat-treatable alloy. While it boasts impressive properties, the production of 7075 aluminum in China still faces challenges, particularly in achieving uniform hardness and quality compared to imported alternatives.

The 8000 series, including the 8011 designation, is often used for specific applications such as aluminum caps and foils. This series is less commonly utilized in broader industrial contexts but serves niche markets effectively.
